£26,000 - £32,000 plus full bonus and package

Established over 30 years ago, our client is a highly regarded independent wine merchant specialising in the direct import of domaine-bottled Burgundies from growers that are renowned and respected throughout the world. They also carry a small selection of wines from Australia and California, as well as an expanding range from the Loire, South Africa and New Zealand.

We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking salesperson to develop sales throughout Southern and South-West England together with the Cotswolds and up towards Birmingham.  

You will inherit an existing restaurant and hotel client base which will need management and nurturing, but will also be required to develop a substantial amount of new business and act as an ambassador for the company, endeavouring to promote and develop the business.

Salary: commensurate with experience.

Key Skills:

  • Proven sales experience and sales success with the on-trade - needs to show that they have made a genuine contribution to the profitable business of their current employer.

  • Excellent wine knowledge, ideally to WSET Diploma level

  • Excellent verbal communication skills both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Strong written communication skills.

  • Keen to be part of a growing business and of its development.

  • Specialist knowledge of wine and of the restaurant market.

  • Team player, with the ability to identify and share information which is relevant to the rest of the business promptly and clearly.

  • Organised and efficient - excellent administration skills (for example, keeping and sharing with London head office up-to-date records)

  • Self driven, results-orientated with a positive outlook, committed enthusiasm for fine wines and for selling them.

  • Able to work independently, on own initiative

Wine Sales Advisor - WSET Qualified

Averys Wine Merchants, Bristol.
OTE £24,500 February / March Start

The role:

The Wine Sales Advisor team is a real cornerstone of Averys personalised approach and service. The team consists of a motivated group of empowered, independent, wine-knowledgeable 'advisors' who deliver the ultimate in personalised customer service and significant incremental sales - a minimum of £275K per annum per Advisor. This is built on managing relationships across all areas of the Averys customer base and selling wines across the range including fine wine and En Primeur.

We are looking for a highly self-motivated, dedicated, sales-focused individual, with a real passion and knowledge for wine to join the team.

This is a proactive sales role where you will manage your own wine portfolio and customer portfolio (both Averys and Telegraph Wine) in order to achieve and exceed your targets and generate repeat business and loyalty through exceptional service and wine recommendations.

You will offer an unparalleled level of service so that when our customers think of wine, both you as an individual and Averys as a merchant should always be front of mind.

Full training will be provided.

Skills Required:

 

  • You must have a strong interest in wine and a good amount of knowledge (WSET Advanced preferred but not essential).
  • You must be a self-starter, someone who motivates themselves and is well organised
  • You must be able to engage with customers and build strong relationships based on trust in your recommendations and ability to deal with issues that arise.
  • You must be a good listener and empathetic with a quick and open mind.
  • You must be motivated by setting goals and achieving and beating them. 
  • You must be resilient and competitive.
  •  You must have the ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Most importantly you must love sharing your passion for wine and enjoy working in a team.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate the above characteristics day to day in the role.

Business Development Manager - (On trade focus)

£28 - £35k exceptional bonus

Responsibilities  

  • Develop outstanding sales relationships by prospecting high-quality entertainment & lifestyle local businesses.
  • Negotiate and close new business opportunities.
  • Work with the wider team to develop and grow specific opportunities.
  • Track ongoing sales activities and forecast new business.
  • Establish and maintain long-term client business relationships, including site visits.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of service and delivery.

Candidate profile

  • Degree educated (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong knowledge of the destination places in your region and have an ear to the ground for the next best thing!
  • Experience in dealing with the on trade.
  • You have a "good nose" for what is an outstanding deal
  • Passion for cold-calling and hunting, and developing and closing sales
  • Ability to manage an extensive database of contacts and prioritise your time so you generate exceptional results.
  • Excellent networker with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to achieve results while working independently
  • Hands-on approach, team player and goal-oriented coupled with an ability to adjust to changing circumstances
